The YouSpot Journey
One brand-new product, driven in public every show day, until somebody checks it in person.
YouSpot is a personal CRM with an assistant built into it. The promise is that it reads your own mail, calendar and network and builds the records for you, instead of you typing them in. Value-First AI Daily has been driving it live on air since the day after it was signed up for, and writing down what actually happened each time. This is that record, plus what was genuinely connected on the day it was last read.

What is connected
YouSpot only builds records out of accounts somebody has actually connected to it. This is which ones have been, read from the product itself and written down after each show. It says what was true on the date below, not what the product promises.

Unresolved on Day 6: YouSpot's own what's-next checklist listed "finish your linked in import" as outstanding (40:24) while its summary reports the import complete. YouSpot's own setup screen read 'Next: Connect Gmail' on Day 3. No consent screen on Day 6; Chris named connecting it as the condition for going further (44:58). Day 7: read pre-air at 12:05 PM Central as not connected, and not attempted, not mentioned and not withdrawn on air. YouSpot's in-app notice documents the path past Google's warning — "While Google is verifying our app you will see a warning that it is unverified. Click Advanced, then 'Continue to YouSpot'. It looks alarming and is safe." — but that notice sits behind the login wall and was never captured before today, so it cannot be called new. No public YouSpot surface states Google's review status. Day 8: on air, YouSpot's own on-screen text stated Gmail was not connected three times — 38:25, 42:15 and 45:45 — after the list first appeared at 38:10; both hosts said the same later in the show (47:27, 54:33). Not attempted. Day 9: connected over the weekend on Chris Carolan's work mailbox (chris.carolan@valuefirstteam.com), per youspot's own integrations list, read 2026-10-05 16:42Z (11:42 AM CT), re-read after the show. The door named on Days 7 and 8. On air, youspot said it had read 30 days of sent mail, 201 messages with 50 sampled, then 50 headers and eight full bodies out of 200 sent messages; those are youspot's figures. Its pre-air read gave the Gmail layer as 247 people, 95 companies and 4,326 conversations over 23 months, and a mailbox read marked "ready" against a task record of 2,000 of 50,186 items processed; none of that was said on air and none has been checked. Day 10: still connected read-only, per youspot's own integrations list read before the show. The first weekly network-updates email built from the mailbox arrived that morning and was read on air; youspot said it drafted two notes to copy because "Your Gmail is connected read-only, so I couldn't leave these as drafts." Chris judged one close and would not send the other, and judged its pick of whom to chase first as leaning on a signed agreement. Those are his calls on air, not an outside test.

On Day 5 the tape said importing from it was still not working — “it's still not able to” (44:59), “as of last night” (45:09). What YouSpot is
YouSpot is made by Dharmesh Shah. It is a personal CRM with a chat assistant built into it, which he describes as a second brain: the idea is that it reads your own mail, calendar, LinkedIn and social activity and assembles the people, companies and notes for you, rather than you keeping them by hand.
It is young, and openly so. Writing publicly on the evening of the show's second day, its maker put it at five days old and in private beta. Chris Carolan signed up the day before the show first drove it, and it has held the show's live-build slot since.
Almost nobody outside the show has published a hands-on account of using it. That is the reason this page exists: the drive is the test, and this is where the test gets written down.
The standard it is being held to
On the second day, Nico Lafakis said plainly on air what would make a product like this worth having. Three sentences from the tape:
when you create an AI, anything... It needs to be magic... It just does the thing natively based on the actions that you took.

He went on to describe what clearing that bar would look like at a conference: scan a code, have a normal conversation with somebody, and afterwards find the record, the notes and the follow-up already there.
All I had to do was have the conversation I normally have.
That is the bar. It is a high one, and the show says so on air every time it applies it.
The maker answered, in public, with a date
On the Monday evening after the show's second day, Dharmesh Shah replied twice in public on Chris Carolan's post about it. The first reply is the commitment this whole journey now runs against, and it is quoted here in full:
Thanks for trying it out. Watched the episode and I was squirming the whole time -- because YOU'RE RIGHT! Just have work to do to get the experience to the 'magical' experience you spoke of. But, the product is 5 days old (and in private beta). I'm going to take it as a personal challenge to get you something that's at least borderline useful (but probably not magical) by UNBOUND.
Forty-one minutes later he posted again, listing five things he had shipped overnight against what the show had said on air.
Read the five- The model picker, rethought: plain-English names, a one-line description of when to pick each one, an automatic default, and Gemini added. In his words: "You were right — 'OpenAI GPT' next to 'GPT 5.6 Sol' meant nothing."
- Connecting an account is no longer a dead end. Ask the chat to connect Gmail, LinkedIn, HubSpot or X and a connect button appears in the chat; one click, and it syncs itself.
- Notes form relationships. A note that mentions a person or a company now wires the connections between them on its own. In his words: "The spider's web you asked for — this is the start of it."
- Voice is hands-free: click the microphone, talk, stop, and it sends itself.
- Setup now surfaces the browser extension.
He signed off: "Will continue to crank after dinner."
What the first day did not answer
The first show spent about half an hour on it. Plenty worked: the chat answered from a cold account, it recognised a film from a picture, and asked an open question it created a workspace, wrote a guide, filed the guide and reported back on what was connected. Then it reached the one thing it could not do for anybody.
I can't click through third party permission screens on your behalf, connect Google.
That is still where it stands, and this page will not say otherwise. Nobody independent has published a test of whether YouSpot pulls what it says it pulls out of a connected account. The drive is the test. The state block above says what is connected on any given day, and the record below says what happened when the show tried.
The check, and what comes after it
Day one was August 28, 2026. The check is UNBOUND, Boston, September 16 to 18, 2026 — a conference Chris Carolan is attending in person. The maker's own commitment names it, which is what makes it checkable: not an argument online, but the two of them in the same building with the product open.
What happens after that is undecided, and this page is not going to invent it. Whether the segment carries on daily, changes shape, or closes with a verdict is a call to make at the check, with this record as the evidence.
How this record is kept
One short written entry per show day, alongside that day's clip. The entries are the show's own record, bylined Value-First AI Daily, with Chris Carolan and Nico Lafakis quoted from the tape in their own words rather than tidied up.
What the record will never carry: anybody's card numbers, the contents of anybody's messages, or the email address of anyone in a connected account. Driving a personal CRM in public means other people's details pass in front of the camera, and they stay off this page.
