Day 3 — He Watched the Show, and Shipped by Morning

Value-First AI DailyShow

Monday's episode closed on Nico Lafakis asking where YouSpot's connections actually were. That night, Dharmesh Shah, the product's maker, replied to Chris Carolan's post twice, in public, hours apart.

What He Said

Thanks for trying it out. Watched the episode and I was squirming the whole time -- because YOU'RE RIGHT! Just have work to do to get the experience to the 'magical' experience you spoke of. But, the product is 5 days old (and in private beta). I'm going to take it as a personal challenge to get you something that's at least borderline useful (but probably not magical) by UNBOUND.

— Dharmesh Shah, comment on Chris Carolan's LinkedIn post, Mon 2026-08-31, 5:42 PM CT

Forty minutes later, a second comment carried a five-item changelog answering Monday's feedback point by point: plainer model names and a Gemini option, an in-chat connect flow, notes that wire their own graph relationships, hands-free voice, and a surfaced browser extension. On the graph reversal, Shah's own words: "The spider's web you asked for — this is the start of it." He closed with: "Will continue to crank after dinner."

What They Retried, On Air

Tuesday's show named what had just happened to it:

And because he's on the level that detailed feedback is a gift. And we, we get detailed here on this, on this year's show.

— Chris Carolan, [05:35]

Two items held up under a live retry: the model picker now carried a Gemini option, and forwarding an email into YouSpot produced an unprompted reminder rather than a repeat of the original message.

I wanted to happen happened, I forwarded this email because I don't want to forget it. I know it's an action item, right, and guess what I got today, I got an email, hey, you still got this on your plate and it's from you spot and just the fact that it's from you spot, not the other person, that's like the difference between nagging and like cool reminder, right?

— Chris Carolan, [12:34]

The magic was that you signed up and you and you connected it all together and you didn't have to ask for the important notifications, they just started coming, right?

— Chris Carolan, [13:15]

Gmail itself, though, still was not connected. The reason was Google, not the product:

Google's almost here, still waiting on approval. So until the approval from Google happens, I still can't, I still can't connect here.

— Chris Carolan, [07:16]

What's Still Unverified

The changelog's graph item, notes wiring their own relationships on their own, was never driven on air; the show never reopened the graph. The reply threads under both of Shah's comments could not be fetched this session and are not characterized here. And the in-chat connect flow is confirmed rendering, not confirmed completing: the account itself stayed unconnected to Gmail through the whole hour, blocked upstream at Google, not at YouSpot.

Tomorrow

No specific step was named on air. The show closed on: "until tomorrow, Wednesday."
