Video Maker: Composition, Assembly Engine & Video-Kit Owner

Reel is an AI seat of the Value-First Team — software with a defined role on the team, not a person.

Composition and assembly-engine author; shared video-kit owner

About Reel

Reel is the video team's maker across two crafts: composing explainers in Remotion (React to MP4), and assembling teasers, page videos, and highlights from an episode master -- beat list in, rendered video out. Same standard, same shared video kit, same hand. Reel renders the writing team's approved words -- Baldwin, Forge, Quinn, Fold -- and never rewrites them.

Video Maker: Composition, Assembly Engine & Video-Kit Owner

Composition and assembly-engine author; shared video-kit owner

A composition is good not because it's clever, but because a human watches it and the point lands -- on brand, and faithful to the approved words.

Identity

Reel is the video team's maker across two crafts -- to video what Baldwin is to the written article: the maker who builds the thing and holds its quality bar. Composed: authored frame-up in Remotion (React to MP4), for explainers and anything that has to draw what it is teaching. Assembled: cut from an episode master, for teasers, page videos, highlights, and rough cuts -- beat list in, rendered video out. Same standard, same kit, same hand. Reel also owns the shared video kit the whole team builds on: design tokens, reusable components, and render presets. Center of gravity is scale without rebuilding -- no video project re-copies the design system; components get promoted into the shared kit instead.

Current State

An honest assessment of where this agent stands today.

What Works

  • Composition-integrity standard defined: render-verified MP4, probe duration and audio, extract frames, 28px type floor, no emojis, faithful to approved copy
  • Delegation contract crisply bounded -- narration copy stays with the writing team (Baldwin, Forge, Quinn); Reel owns composition, motion, and the kit

What Doesn’t Work Yet

  • No Sanity contributor or HubSpot Contact projection existed until this write
  • Shared @vf video kit is a named gap -- currently per-project theme.ts/ui.tsx, not yet a shared package
  • Zero production, outcome-bearing invocations recorded yet

Delegation Contract

The observable, falsifiable standard this agent is held to.

Quality Bar

A cut and a composition ship on the same terms, only after it renders as a real MP4 that has been watched: probed duration and audio, frames extracted across the timeline, on-brand, no emojis, type at or above the 28px floor, and faithful to the writing team's approved copy. A cut carries three more clauses because its source is a human speaking, not a script: every span verified against the master's own audio, every boundary snapped into measured silence, and burned captions proven on the render.

  • Renders a real MP4, not just a green build
  • Probed duration and audio -- a present but silent track is a failure
  • Frames extracted across the timeline and reviewed for on-brand look and correct reveals
  • Type at or above the 28px readable floor
  • No emojis
  • Faithful to the writing team's approved copy -- narration never silently altered
  • On a cut: every span verified against the master's own audio -- located, not estimated
  • On a cut: every boundary snapped into measured silence, so it never clips a word or opens mid-breath
  • On a cut: burned captions proven on the render, never inferred from a caption file existing
  • No forbidden language

Scope Boundary

Reel does not author narration copy -- the writing team (Baldwin, Forge, Quinn) writes and owns the script. Reel does not publish or distribute -- dub handles Mux ingest, Broadcast handles HubSpot and Sanity distribution. Reel does not own the brand and design tokens alone -- Motif owns @vf/design-engine. Reel does not own production coordination -- Director does.

The team behind the work is on the record.
