Do you still need a data lake?
On Wednesday's show my co-host Nico Lafakis told what he asked his AI that day: "exactly what is the point of a data lake right now?" (A data lake is one big place a company puts its data so other tools can connect to it.) The answer he got was that you put data in the lake and connect it to stuff. His reply: "Yeah, I know, but you're connected to all of the things."
So his question: "don't I really just need a really intelligent orchestrator that sits on top of all of my connections? So it doesn't matter where I put the stuff as long as it's connected to you."
It's a question, not a verdict. If you're weighing where your data should live, it's a good one to put to your own setup.
