The real-life version of silent letters

"Because I said so" has never once landed as an actual reason — not for a kid, not for an adult, not for anyone.

My co-host Nico named the pattern on the show today, the moment reasoning gets skipped for the instruction: "when a parent tells a child to do something and the child doesn't want to do it, and then the child asks why... because I told you so... it never makes sense, ever. There's never a part of your brain that's like, oh, okay, well, yeah, yeah, because you said it, I'll do it."

If you're usually the one giving the instruction without the why, this names exactly what's missing.
