What if the computing power your AI runs on can be sold out from under you?
On Monday's show my co-host Nico Lafakis pointed to two stories. In the first, from the Moonshots podcast, someone trying to get compute (the computing power AI models run on) for $9 million got outbid, on compute that "wasn't even currently available." In the second, one he'd just read, somebody "had their compute yanked out from under them because somebody else basically paid three times the amount." Both are stories as Nico told them.
His conclusion: "They're private businesses. So they can definitely say, 'We don't want to renew your contract because that person's going to pay three times what you're going to pay.' Welcome to capitalism."
If your business depends on someone else's capacity, it's a risk Nico is naming that's worth a look.
