Ever tried to show how a whole organization fits together on a slide deck?
On Thursday's show my co-host Nico Lafakis showed his 3D exploded-view build and asked: "Do you not see the silos that I'm looking at?" His explanation: "This is one organization and this represents all of its various silos. And this represents all the individual contributors of those silos and what they are contributing."
He's the first to say "it looks dumb from the outside and it looks super useless from the outside." The difference is the person behind it. Instead of a slide deck, "they can very easily see what part of what process affects what aspects of something else."
And the question it answers before anyone has to ask: "What if we make a change to this? What's the cascade from that?"
If you've ever had to explain a change and been asked what else it touches, this is one way to show it.
