How good your content is doesn't matter if the person it's for never sees it.
On Thursday's show I was thinking about explaining complex topics to salespeople who really want to understand what I'm up to in marketing: "it's different language, there's just all these barriers." My slide puts the fix in three questions (can I find it, can I consume it, can I understand it). This clip covers the first two.
First, "can I find it? Is it where I go?" "If you're doing all your stuff on LinkedIn and I'm on Reddit, I'm never going to see it."
Second, once it's there: "If you put an ebook or a long novel or something else in the post, I'm not consuming it. That's not what I'm doing on Reddit." So "the format has to match the channel that it's coming in."
If your message isn't landing, check those two before you rewrite it.
