AI makes a lot of things faster. Is faster the same as valuable?
On Wednesday's show, building on where my co-host Nico Lafakis started, I said it plainly: AI is "an efficiency optimizer, efficiency machine. Efficiency does not always equal value."
As I framed value creation, it comes down to "what creates value for whom and why?" If it doesn't create value, "it can be hard to call it productivity as well in the scheme of GDP" (a country's economic output). "If you're not adding value, it's actually not a productive activity."
If you're measuring what AI saves you, it's worth asking what it's making valuable, and for whom.
