Strategic conversations don't happen as much as they should inside of orgs.
To really have one, you need to sit down with each other and disconnect in some capacity, so you're not worried about the next email that comes in. That's why companies hold offsite retreats: we're going to go and think deeply about stuff.
But that's once a year. On Thursday's show I said we're doing it every day now. All the coordination, the nuts and bolts, the blocking and tackling used to get in the way, because there were fires to put out. Now we've got firefighters all around us.
The catch is that we're not used to thinking that deeply all the time. We weren't taught… we were built to go as cogs in factories, to "just get to the next hour, just get to the next minute."
