When a company says its new model has to be held back, what should you make of it?
My co-host Nico Lafakis's read on Google's Gemini 4 Argon announcement: "This sounds like a marketing ploy." As he described it, Google puts it on par with OpenAI's Astra but is holding it back for top cybersecurity people. His question: "how is it that you don't have the same guardrails in place already to be able to release it?"
He also thinks Google's release pace hasn't kept up with everyone else's. In his words, "Gemini's still 3.8." And on Gemini 4: "if 4 is supposed to be awesome, make it awesome soon."
