Runway just showed off a model that draws an app's interface frame by frame instead of running any code behind it, and it's genuinely impressive, until you ask what happens the second time someone comes back.
I read our design team's take on it live on air, since neither of us had seen the demo yet: 'A picture of a button isn't a button.' It can feel right for one frame. Being the same thing every time someone comes back is a much bigger job than that.
My co-host Nico's answer: 'That's fair. But baby steps, bro.'
Both things are true right now. It's an early demo, and it isn't a product yet. Worth watching either way.
