Not sure what CPQ actually means? It stands for configure, price, quote.

Ethan Kopit, a product manager at HubSpot who works on CPQ, gave me the plain version: "it's quoting software." Then the history that explains how modern ones work. It started about 20 years ago with manufacturing and telecommunications companies, where building a quote by hand was close to impossible, and it spread as everyone else found quoting hard too.
