The worst process is one you can't articulate

How many teams know their own process when they sit down with you?
My co-host Trisha Merriam put that question to my co-host Erin Wiggers in Part 4 of 5 of our AI Readiness conversation. Erin's answer:
"if I'm being generous, like 20%. Maybe."
And her view of the worst case:
"there's bad process and then there's the worst process, which is one that you can't articulate. If you can't tell me what the process is, you are nowhere near thinking about how to automate it."
Before you think about automating anything, see whether your team can describe the process.
