Long for the interested

Long or short? The best answer I heard in Part 3 of 5 was: it depends who's reading.

My co-host Trisha Merriam shared what happened for a client of hers, a publisher with a huge content library and huge email lists. They looked at what people were actually reading on the website, then sent each newsletter in two versions. If it was about topic ABC, the people who'd looked at ABC got a long, detailed one. Everyone else got a short note that a new piece was out.

Trisha:

"The ABC people consumed 11 times as much content after the delivery of that email than the other group. So that supports that if they're interested in it, they'll read more."

Keep the long version for the people who already care.
