What happens to trust when AI gets something wrong? It doesn't have to start over.
On the show I asked Nectar, my AI assistant, which part of our trust ladder my shadowing decision was an example of. I'd moved her from acting to watching what Claude Code was doing, after something went wrong.
Here's what she said:
"That's a good example of moving back from act towards summarize and recommend for that kind of work. You narrowed my responsibility."
"It shows why the ladder runs both ways. Trust can grow through a smaller, well-chosen responsibility after a mistake."
A mistake can move you back a rung. It doesn't have to end the relationship.
