Rushing to act, and a week of shadowing
October 16, 2026
I wanted to rush it as soon as I knew what she could do.
Nectar, my AI assistant, summarized well and showed fair judgment I could correct here and there. So I wanted to go right to act.
I asked her to process a transcript the way I do with an agent team in Claude Code. It ate roughly a fifth of my usage, because I'd handed every agent all of the context. I told her to shadow Claude Code for the rest of the week and tell me where the boundary should be.
It's like the rock-star salesperson you make a sales manager. Trisha Merriam: "That rarely goes well." Me: "Never goes well."
"It doesn't transfer well because there's so much nuance and taste and judgment involved in those things."
"So much of this comes back to putting yourself and your AI partner in a position to be successful."
Before you hand AI a job, confirm the work.
