People have been building custom objects called events just to do what marketing events should have let them do. Per HubSpot's update, marketing events are now a workflow trigger, so a team can send notifications, create tasks and update properties when a marketing event is created or updated.
As I read it, this starts to use automation in HubSpot for project management instead of communication. The note at the bottom of the update is the maddening part: actions related to contacts, attendees and registrants are not currently supported.
Casey Hawkins said she still looks at workflows the old way: "I still look at workflows like they used to be where you had to pick contact, company or deal." Zach Hussion's first thought was the project object, and that you'd also have to manually add your marketing event to the campaign.
If you're deciding whether this fits, ask a plain question: are we trying to do communication, or project management?
