Smart Transfer for custom objects is in public beta, and the temptation will be to move fast. Joshua Oakes' advice: "Now, this is a beta. So don't just turn it on, sync your objects, cancel your Salesforce contract, and walk away. You'll want to do that eventually."

What to do first: "join this beta and do some test migrations and see that everything comes over."

Run the test migration before you make any call about the old system.
