NetSuite custom object sync: no such thing as a standard integration, and the hard part is governance

HubSpot says NetSuite custom object sync is coming: connect NetSuite custom records to HubSpot custom objects, so data the standard integration doesn't support, like custom assets, subscriptions, repair tickets and order related records, can reach your customer facing teams. It's in development, with a forward looking statement at the front.
I'll take the bait on one word. "There is no such thing as standard integration, in most cases." Even the names collide: HubSpot has tickets, and a NetSuite team has repair tickets that are "gonna work completely different."
Zach Hussion has watched this go sideways: "they build it and it works and it breaks." What he wants people to see is that "it's not about the data move. It's the governance." Someone changes picklist options in NetSuite, and "there has to be an approval process" so "we should probably let the HubSpot person know that this is gonna happen."
My longer view is that both updates we covered are "stepping stones for Breeze," because "you can already ask Breeze to go get stuff in NetSuite… without setting up any integration."
If you're planning a NetSuite connection, start with who is allowed to change what, and who tells whom.
