The new dashboard header side by side, and what Oaks puts in the top bar

What would you put in the top bar of a dashboard?

Joshua Oakes, who we call Oaks, picked the header simplification this week, and Casey Hawkins put the old and new versions side by side on her screen. It's a small cleanup that compresses everything above the filter row. The part with more to it is persistent metrics, a row of top-line numbers you can carry across all your dashboards.

So I asked Oaks what he actually puts there. He starts with the team: "I think about it on a team-by-team basis." For a sales team, that's "whatever the organization calls their gating metrics, MQL, SQL, total pipeline size and so on," the marketing and sales qualified counts.

His main rule is "We want to move outcomes, not actions." Casey's reaction is mine too: "I like the outcomes, not actions, simple rule to follow."
