Check where your new records start: change the default lifecycle stage

One setting in your portal might be quietly skipping people ahead.

Joshua Oakes, who we call Oaks, added this on the show, and it's worth checking today: "the default setting is to create records on lifecycle stage lead, so go change that."

My suggestion is to set it to whatever you decide to call the stage before lead, in your current portal and in any new one, so records don't skip ahead without anyone noticing.

It's quick to check, and it keeps your definition of lead from being bypassed by every new record.
